Dharma Mittra
Yoga
Nourishing
Retreat with a Master

Since 1967,
Dharma Mittra has spent his life
teaching the yamas and niyamas of Yoga thru daily
practice
of Hatha-Raja Yoga to ten's of thousands of students.
Dharma began disseminating this knowledge before "styles" of
Yoga became popular, and has remained truthful
to the original classical practice. Students
from all
walks and styles of Yoga love his teachings.
Dharma has literally been teaching classes everyday
since he started over 40 years ago. He still
makes himself available to anyone
who walks thru the doors of Dharma Mittra Yoga
in need of help and direction. For his dedication
and
fortitude, he is known as "the Rock of Yoga",
and for his experience and knowledge the “Teacher's
Teacher". Sri Dharma continues to inspire,
enlighten, and reveal to Yoga teachers and practitioners,
the real meaning of Yoga. “It is my greatest
joy to share with students this knowledge that
I have acquired in the past 50 years of practice
and
study. Yoga practice will give one’s body
the power and strength to have resistance to
common illnesses
and diseases. With proper encouragement and increased
faith in the Guru, as one can improve his physical
body and mental attitude rapidly, thereby igniting
the higher motives of making ones self useful
to himself and all mankind”.

About Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is a city on the coast of the Carribean
Sea, in the north east of the Yucatan Peninsula,
in Mexico. Playa del Carmen (or just 'Playa' as it
is colloquially referred to), is the centre of the
Riviera Maya concept, which covers from Cancun to
Tulum and the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve.
Playa, originally a rustic fishermen town has evolved
in the last few years into one of the most popular
destinations in the world, not only for its amazing
white sand beaches, but for its proximity to archeological
Mayan sites, hidden jungle cenotes (fresh water sink
holes), snorkeling, some of the best scuba diving
on earth, and the party atmosphere of Playa Carmen.
However, despite its recent growth, the local community
and government have attempted to retain Playa del
Carmen's reputation and charm as a small fishing
village and artists' colony, without becoming as
large or tourist-dependent as Cancun.
Tourist activity in Playa del Carmen centres 5th
Avenue, a pedestrian walkway located just one block
inland from the beach, and lined with boutique hotels,
small shops, bars, coffee places and neat restaurants.
There is a significant European influence in Playa,
with a number of local business proprietors drawn
from the European expatriate community.
About
Accomodation & More
Otam
offers 2 beautiful spaces for practice. It does
not offer
accomodation or meals yet. So far,
when events have been hosted, the students stayed
in different hotels in Playa del Carmen (5 miles
away), which offers choices for every budget
and taste. Otam provides daily transportation back & forth
since the shala is located in a jungle property
that would not be easy to find.
If you need help to find accomodation, I can certainly
give you some suggestions, if you gave me an aproximate
nightly rate you would like to spend.
The town offers
as well tons of choices for good and affordable
food (etnic & international).
