Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss is a wonderful exposition of the deep meaning of the chakras and how these energy centers can affect our physical health. I don't have enough information to judge the value of medical intuition in treating illness but as a reader devoted to self inquiry and deeply interested in understanding more about the mind/body connection there are many fascinating ideas in this book that seem helpful in creating a richer more fulfilling life in balance with our deepest needs, hopes and desires. It seems to me that this will make us happier and more energetic and plausible that more vibrant physical health will follow. As to the specific correlations between past and current emotional states and events and how they specifically effect health, I'm willing to remain open that this is possible, though I admit being skeptical. Regardless, the energetic roadmap that Myss gives us in this book can help us to analyze every aspect of our lives to see if they are giving us or robbing us of energy and personal power. This is a wonderful life enhancing practice and one I think all people and yogis in particular will benefit from.
     Myss claims that we can all develop our intuitive skills to help us understand our health and ailments and those of others in energetic terms and that she is giving us the tools to begin this exploration in Anatomy of the Spirit. This is an exciting idea that I'm sure will be tested by her many thousands of fans and others. Moreover, in this book Myss draws a deep connection between the Hindu concept of the chakras, the Christian sacraments and the Kabbalah's Tree of Life, which show the seven stages we all pass through in the search for higher consciousness and spiritual maturity. Hopefully this inclusive and broad connection will help these ideas garner wide acceptance.
