One
can practice, teach and reap all the benefits of Yoga, without ever
learning more anatomy than is necessary to accomplish
the poses. For thousands of years yoga was an oral tradition largely
untouched by Western scientific mind and the kind of precise anatomical
resources offered below. Today, however, anatomy is seen as an important
part of Yoga teacher training. While not necessary for progress along
the path of Yoga, this information can be extremely useful. Hopefully,
having names for body parts and understanding how muscles, bones, fascia
and the various organs interact will deepen your experience of your
own body and make it possible for you to better understand the experience
of others. In turn, this will likely make you a better steward of human
forms. |
