The Primary and Intermediate Series Posters
The Primary and Intermediate Series Posters are for practitioners
and teacher's of traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga who want an
easy reference guide for practice that also serves as a lovely
decorative element
in your practice space or school.
These
large 28" x 40" black and white
posters have clear, easy to follow details
of all the relevant
movements and breaths between postures. Each poster also includes
the correct Sanskrit transliterations and the traditional Vinyasa
counting for every pose.
Moon Sequence Poster: Chandra Krama
This sequence is designed for
maximum accessibility for practitioners of any level. It is
particularly designed for beginning students, experienced students
who want to add variety to their routine, or those who just
want a gentler practice for whatever reason.
For experienced practitioners Chandra
Krama is intended for practice on the full moon and the new moon. Practicing
an alternative
gentle sequence at these times of the month is ideal so you
can avoid strain and injury. It is also helpful to become aware of
your changing internal condition as influenced by the waxing
and waning moon. This sequence is also recommended when you are feeling
tired or incapable of doing your regular practice. Practiced
with patience Chandra Krama is rewarding and strengthening.
Although there are no jumps
in this sequence the core principles of movement and breath are
maintained. The emphasis of Chandra Krama is on the hips and mid-section
of the body, with decreased emphasis on upper body strength and
the knees. The Moon sequence is a great alternative if you find
the particular focus in the traditional series has caused some
instability, injury, or is simply unsuitable for you. This has
therapeutic benefits, giving you the chance to continue a regular
practice without adding further strain or injury to a problem.
You will give your body the chance to heal, and you can then step
back into your regular practice sooner rather than later.
This large 22" x 34" black and white
poster has clear, easy to follow details of all the relevant movements and
breaths between postures.
All three posters have been created
by Australian yoga instructor and author
Matthew Sweeney for his students. They are popular in Ashtanga
Yoga Shalas and practice spaces throughout the world.
They are printed on sturdy
stock and the primary series poster is available laminated. The other two should
be available laminated by the end of January 2007. Orders that include the laminated
versions of those posters will ship right away with those being shipped when
available at no additional shipping charge. The thin, optically
clear, high gloss, polyester lamination protects the poster,
increases durability and makes it possible to clean it with
a damp cloth. For those who plan on framing the poster, it
means you can
leave out the glass if you want to.
