Insight Yoga DVD
Insight Yoga with Sarah Powers is a well rounded, healing,
energizing and spiritually uplifting offering from a gifted and knowledgable
source. There are practices to enhance healing and receptivity in the Yin sections
and practices for enhancing energy and strength in the vinyasa sections. With
over 4 hours of great practice this is an exceptional resource. |

Yin Yoga by Paul Grilley
In this simple book you are encouraged to hold
each Yin pose, done within your comfort zone, not someone else's vision
of the pose but your own, for 3 to 5 minutes so you can really experience
the transformative effects of the activity. This is a deeply
restful, healing and meditative practice that everyone can benefit
from. It is truly an antidote to our otherwise hyperactive lives. |

Moola
Bandha - The Master Key
Until this book came along, moola bandha or
root lock, was one of the least well explained yoga practices. The
author, Swami Buddhananda, has made a complete study of Moola Bandha
focusing on the theory and practice of this lock and offers us
many preliminary and advanced techniques to access and benefit from
this powerful exercise. |

Yoga Mat Sling
The Bheka Mat Sling combines sturdy 100% cotton
webbing with velcro ends to make a lightweight, inexpensive mat sling.
Its versatile design makes it perfect for hand and shoulder carrying
but creative yogis will find more ways to use this simple tote I'm
sure! You can see why our mascot Misty loves this item by checking
out the page. |

Silk Eye Pillows
A break with our Vegan tradition has occurred because I received
hundreds of these lovely cushions when I purchased Bheka Yoga Supply. We will
replace them with an alternative material when we run out but did not want
to add insult to injury by throwing them out and they are great.

|
Brushed Plaid Blankets
These soft reversible brushed plaid blankets are warm
and soft and give the maximum cushioning of all the blankets we carry. They
are an acrylic-cotton-polyester blend and come in four colors: Steel Blue,
Burgundy, Forest Green and Camel. Each one measures 68" x 80". These
blankets are the preferred blanket for the practice of Svaroopa Yoga.

Bheka
Crescent Zafu Cushion
Bheka Crescent Zafus are the perfect cushions for sitting
meditation and pranayama practice or any time you want to sit comfortably on
the floor. Our organic Buckwheat filled zafus mold to your body for added comfort.

Two Inch Yoga Foam Blocks
These blocks are a favorite among students and teachers
who want a little, specific support. They are light and easy to find room for.
At two inches wide, they require careful use when standing on their thin edge,
helping the practitioner to stay balanced and focused, yet providing adequate
support and additional reach.

 |
Eco Jute Mat
This mat performs very well. It has the good traction
and support characteristics of other PER mats and replaces much of the petroleum
based synthetic body of the mat with renewable jute. It is completely latex
free and no toxic chemicals are used in its manufacture. It looks distinctive,
reduces your ecological footprint and does not compromise on grip or cushioned
texture. |
|
Cotton Yoga Mat Totes
These yoga tote bags are made of durable, high quality
cotton with an over-the-shoulder adjustable strap. The regular sized tote comes
in a zippered and a drawsting version and the solid color versions of it come
with an embroidered OM on the outer pocket. The oversized version fits extra
wide mats and comes in a zippered version only without the OM.

Ceramic Neti Pot
This artfully crafted ceramic Neti Pot is shaped like
a teapot. Its specialized spout fits snugly into the nostril so there is no
unwanted spilling, yet the inside of the spout is thin enough to create a gentle
flow of water.

|
U-shaped Neck Pillow
This U-shaped neck pillow can be used to
support your neck in its natural curve while you are sitting or
lying down, or as a face cradle for supine poses, massage, or yoga
therapy. It is excellent for supporting the neck in restorative
poses.

Wow, thank goodness the recession is
over. It may be slow in coming but hopefully the good economic news
heralds more abundant times ahead.
Hey, if things don't get better, I'm going to be stuck with a lot of
yoga stuff, so I've got my fingers crossed.
I am really jazzed about the Yin Yoga resources we have and how
Yin Yoga dovetails with something I've been feeling the edges of
for a long time now, that has really come into sharper focus for
me recently. I think the drift of Yoga away from slow movement, long
holds and lots of pranayama has been a shift toward the revved up,
outward looking, results oriented culture of the West. This is not
to say that that change has not valuable. It has and it is. Millions
of people, myself included, have been attracted to speeded up, strenuous
forms of yoga who would not have been strongly drawn to slower, less
physically demanding activities.
Unfortunately, in moving toward the Western paradigm, the medicine
got diluted. It is hard to breathe slowly enough to trigger your
parasympathethic response when you can barely catch your breath.
It is hard to focus your mind in relaxation when your body is reeling
from exertion.
Yin yoga, while new, reaches back to a tradition that takes the practitioner
on the inward journey throughout the yoga practice, not just for
a few minutes at the beginning and the end. It is a powerful antidote
to our hectic pace and our focus on outward forms. Perhaps it will
be the cutting edge of another pendulum swing.
Cheers to new prosperity and slow yoga. Long may they run.
Peace and Love,
