Tulsi Mala Beads

These Mala Beads come to us from Brindavan, India, where they
have been hand crafted from local materials, and serve as an intrinsic
part of the culture. Walking on the streets of Brindavan, you
will see strings of Malas in hands, used to count repetitions
of one-hundred-and-eight mantras, worn around the neck to remind
the wearer of his or her inherent holy nature, and hung on
statues of deities and on the corners of framed pictures of
gurus and saints. Each string of Malas contains 108 beads,
a number which holds manifold numerological and mythological
significance within the Hindu tradition, as for Hindus, it
stands as the number most connected to human life.
Tulsi beads are carved from the
mature stem of the medicinal Tulsi, or Holy Basil plant, greatly
revered in Indian culture
for its symbolic representation of the
union between Krishna and Rama. These Tulsi beads were grown and crafted in Brindavan,
also known as the birthplace of Krishna, and are said to hold this connection
to Krishna’s energies within them. Brindavan Tulsi is most highly revered
for this reason. Adorning oneself with the Tulsi beads is said to assist in lowering
fevers, restoring mental health, and respiratory function by traditional Ayurvedic
medicine. It is said that the wearer of these beads will learn to embody the
qualities of Krishna and Rama, and experience devotion and love in
the
heart.
These hand-strung beads are 7mm and come in a string with a diameter of 34'. Each
string contains
108 genuine Indian Tulsi beads.
