Over the years I've had samples of various mats and had bad experiences with them creasing, picking up dirt very aggressively and generally not being nearly as good as a standard pvc mat, plus I sensed that because of their high negatives, they would not last very long and replacing a biodegradable mat 3 to 5 times when you could have just used one regular mat is a huge waste of resources. I'm sure the energy that goes into the manufacture and transportion of 3 to 5 "eco" mats more than offsets the benefits of getting away from pvc.
