Yoga Teacher Ira Israel has created a heart-centered and caring yoga DVD to help those who experience depression and anxiety, which is most people in our culture today, as Israel points out. Israel speaks a bit on the yogic perspective on depression and anxiety in a brief introductory section. He brings to awareness that depression has its origin in the past, while anxiety has its origin in the future. But within the space of yogic practice, a reality can be accessed where neither past nor future exist, and so, Ira Israel asks, how can depression or anxiety exist within this space either?
The asana practice lead by Israel is simple and full of wisdom with heart-opening, timeless poses. The speed at which this vinyasa flow series is lead remains engaging, and yet meditative and introspective; not too fast or slow. Integrated within the asana practice, Israel guides a visualization of white light flowing though the body. The practice is accompanied by beautiful, soft music and chanting to lift the spirit.
