Instruction
Yoga for Body, Breath, and Mind
by A G Mohan

I
was introduced to this book by one of my wholesale customers who
uses it regularly as a text in her workshops for dedicated students.
Having familiarized myself with the book I now understand her great enthusiasm
for it. First and foremost author A G Mohan stresses the importance of listening
to your own body and breath to structure your practice. In this vein he offers
multiple variations on each pose and each vinyasa (series of poses) so you
can
find the one right for you or your students. Plus, all aspects of a complete
practice are explored inluding pranayama and meditation.
The respected yoga magazine Yoga International
has this to say about the book. "An extraordinary Hatha manual...one you
can read, savor, and refer to again and again as your practice unfolds. It is
distinguished from its peers by its emphasis on individualized therapy and its
translation of the philosophy of the yoga sutras to everday practice." This
trade paperback book has 218 pages.
A. G. Mohan has a private yoga therapy practice
in Chennai, India, with his wife Indra. He studied with the yoga master Sri
T. Krishnama-Charya (who taught BKS Iyengar, TKV Desikachar, Pattabhi Jois and
Indra
Devi, among others) for eighteen years, until the master's death in 1989. He
teaches workshops in Inda, the United States and Europe. |
