The Yin Yoga Kit
Biff Mithoefer

The Yin Yoga Kit with Biff Mithoefer introduces the yogi of any skill and ability to the practice of Yin Yoga. The practice guidelines are flexible enough that you can create the Yin practice that feels best for you. Teachers will find benefit from this kit to help sequence classes.
This kit presents the method and philosophy of Yin Yoga to help usher in the process of healing and balance into one's life. Yin Yoga encourages the modality of acceptance rather than resistance and competition, which are Yan energies. Yan energy is needed in our lives, but easily finds itself in overexpression, which then limits and prevents the healing process. Reintroducing Yin energies, as the method of Yin Yoga invites, allows the healing process to occur as it naturally wants to.
The 130-page book included in the Kit presents information about the principles of Yin Yoga. It integrates Taoist philosophy in its presentation of the energetic and anatomical structure of the body, and presents fourteen poses used in Yin Yoga. The individual posture cards included illustrate the poses, provide advanced and modified variations, and assist users in designing a personalized practice sequence. The 75-minute CD contains a sample guided routine narrated by the author, with each pose presented on a separate track so listeners can rearrange them or shorten the routine as needed.
Biff Mithoefer has taught yoga at Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, Omega Institute in Rhinebeck N.Y., and at workshops in the US and Internationally. He is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance registered teacher and has trained and taught extensively with Don & Amba Stapleton. He has also received training as an Advanced Yoga teacher in Forrest yoga, Yin yoga and anatomy by Paul Grilley, and Yin and Hatha yoga by Sarah Powers.
High Praise for The Yin Yoga Kit:
Biff Mithoefer has created the most useful written material available for exploring Yin Yoga. Much more than an asana book, Biff uses this platform to teach energetic principles, mental disciplines and patient mindfulness. If a student sincerely engages in the practices outlined in this book she will become a better person – on all levels. I highly recommend it!-- Paul Grilley, leading expert on Yin Yoga
To bring equilibrium and well connectedness between mind, body and spirit is real meaning of Yoga in the Buddhist tradition. The beauty of the Yin Yoga Kit is that it does not talk about body exercise alone but it gives a silent but powerful orientation to spiritualize the whole process to awake the inner wisdom of the practitioner" --Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Prime Minister (Central Tibetan Administration) |
