Meditation
Mindfulness for Beginners
Book and CD Set
Reclaiming the Present Moment and Your Life
Jon Kabat-Zinn

In this beginner’s guide,
Jon Kabat-Zinn provides instruction on Mindfulness Meditation,
which he has developed from his own experience and study
of various
forms of spiritual practice.
Mindfulness Meditation incorporates many basic
and simple philosophies, all of which are outlined in this
book and CD set. Some key principals which Zinn has found
to be most useful in his teaching include the value of coming
back to our bodies and to our senses over and over again,
moving beyond our “story” into direct experience
and stabilizing our attention and presence amidst daily activities.
He also explains that heartfulness is synonymous with mindfulness.
This book is broken up into very short, one and
two page chapters, making it easy to access and a light read. The
chapters are designed
to be read before or after a meditation, or in any moment when a meditative
reflection is needed. The CD provides five guided mindfulness meditations
ranging from ten minutes to eighteen minutes in length, to be used at any time.
Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD, is the developer of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), used today in medical centers, hospitals, and clinics around the world. He is the founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and its Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society.
