This book is the antidote to the crazies. Whether it is the crazy vegans who insist any other way to eat is immoral and debilitating, or the crazy meat eaters who want to trick vegans into eating animal based foods to "save them". It is a serious, soothing book that does its best to give you all the facts so if you choose to persue a vegan foodstyle you can do so healthfully and with confidence. The authors are two of North America's foremost vegetarian dieticians and they do not have an axe to grind, except that we should all take care of ourselves and each other and get along.
    In this book they cover everything you need to know to do well as a vegan. It is the most valuable book I've seen on this topic in decades.

Vesanto Melina, MS, RDD, is a coauthor of the American Dietetic Association's "Position Paper on Vegetarian Nutrition," and of the Vegetarian section of the Manual of Clinical Dietetics. She consults for individuals, government, and vegetarian food companies and has taught nutrition at the University of British Columbia and at Bastyr University in Seattle.

Brenda Davis, RD, is a nutrition consultant in private practice and the Vegan Advocacy Director of the CARE campaign. She is a past chair of the Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association.
